All the indications are that the African middle class will continue to grow, reliant in large measure on its capacity to market the only assets it has — its skills. As these strata acquire property they might well be drawn closer to their white counterparts in wealth, lifestyle and opinion. Political parties opposed to employment equity are thwarting their ambitions, and the African middle class will punish them at the polls.

What Pallo and his arrogANCe does not get is that there are very few political parties who are courting the African vote that are opposed to Employment Equity and BEE. What they are opposed to is this African-centric empowerment that comes at the cost of everyone else. It's very clear that the ANC has given up on the white, Coloured and Indian vote and is now charting an African course. On the face of it this is not too much of a problem. But you must remember that African is not an homogeneous group. Logic suggests that eventually the ANC will start favouring certain tribes within the African grouping. This is probably exactly what they want to do - it's a more refined form of racism.
