Members of the ANC in Parliament have voted in favour of the Protection of State Information Bill.
With a landslide majority vote from ANC members, the bill will be drafted into legislation and then be sent to the National Council of Provinces (NCP) for consideration.
The public will then have an opportunity to review the bill from the NCP and tender their considerations of the new legislation.
All opposition parties lambasted the Bill while most of them including DA leader of Parliament Lindiwe Mazibuko saying that they would launch an application to the Constitutional Court if the Bill is passed.
The vote comes amid anger and outcry from South African media and public.
