The Sunday Times accused the Western Cape government of tender irregularities. The DA, who run the Western Cape, deny this. This is typical in South African politics. However there are two very unique features to this denial which puts the DA in a morally superior position to that most efficient and uncorrupt party - the ANC.
- Zille accepts responsibility for this and offers to resign if corruption is found.
- They actually publish a complete explanation of the tender process and submit these processes to the auditor general to confirm that they are correct. And all this within 4 days of the accusation.
What would the ANC do?
We don't know - they haven't accepted responsibility for anything in the last 17 years.
