I received an email from Bernard van der Walt of BEE Rating Solutions Pty Ltd (not a very good website either). He claims that he is able to provide EMEs with a certificate that verifies EMEs as being such. Very enterprising and possibly credible but really utter rubbish.
Firstly - the EME thresholds are still speculative. The press might be speaking about it - but the dti is not known to particularly pay attention to speculation. They will do whatever they want to do.
Secondly, cabinet has requested certain modifications to the codes, who is to say the EME thresholds are not to be changed.
Thirdly, whilst BEE Rating Solutions is a member of ABVA, no rating agency is accredited yet. Their rating certificate carries no more weight than this. The attached document is a type of disclaimer - modify to fit in with the new codes when they come out.
Ask old Bernie again when the codes have been finalised.
This type of email actually pisses me off. It does not provide the consumer with all the relevant facts. Please feel free to forward this and the attachment onto any one who would be interested.
